It seems that Spicejet
is the main driver of the discounted flights in the Indian aviation market. It
brings up one heart-warming offer of cheap air tickets and the others are left with no option but to follow the suit. This
happened in May, 2012 last year when it cut down its prices to abysmally low
levels on the occasion of its birth anniversary. Again this time in January, it
has now come up with a new exciting offer for travelling anywhere in the
domestic sector at the rate of Rs 2013 for travelling from February 1 to April
30, 2013.
Within hours, the offer got a matching response for the leading low cost carrier, the IndiGo Airlines, which also reduced the prices of its tickets, offering the lowest air fare for flying on any domestic sector prevailing currently. Others are also expected to follow the suit.

The airlines offers,
launched by one of the players, are often matched by the others irrespective of
whether there are profitable for them or not. This has made the airlines
operation quite difficult so far as profitability of Indian aviation in general
is concerned. With fares soaring to record high levels in the last few months,
this competitive reduction offers the chance to the frequent travelers to make
good their travel plans and book the flights for the travel period stipulated
in the terms of the offer.
This is considered to
be a ploy of Spicejet to win more market share by advance bookings and the
others are set to snatch the catch. When the Indian aviation market is
struggling to be profitable as a whole, these offers seem to lack reason but
are welcomed by the opportunist travelers, much to their delight, who wait for
these offers.
